Situated on top of
a hill in Glen Lorne, the prestigious suburb of Harare, guests
cannot fail to be truly impressed by the magnificent lodges of
Imba Matombo. The friendly but unobtrusive service and the personal
touch given to the main lodge gives an atmosphere of both warmth
and friendliness. One of its most impressive features is the huge
and beautiful sitting room featuring a 56ft-thatched ceiling.
All the individually decorated guest lodges and rooms sleep two
people and are filled with tasteful antique teak railway sleeper
furniture and bold colours. There are three standard, three verandah
and four superior rooms in total - all are stunning.
At 1470m (4823 ft)
Harare's high dry plateau is always cool at night, and cold during
the winter months (June to August). Harare is normally sunny by
day throughout the year, although there can be prolonged overcast
spells during the rainy season (November to March) accompanied
by spectacular lightning and thunder displays. The city probably
has one of the world's most equable climates and certainly not
what most visitors expect in Africa.
Dinner can be served
in the formal dining room or the conservatory, or should you wish,
entertain al fresco in one of the two outdoor gazebos.
Relaxing is easy at
Imba Matombo. Choose to lie in the sun by the 25-metre pool with
stunning panoramic views across to Domboshawa or take advantage
of the floodlit tennis court. Or simply while away the time reading
peacefully on the enormous main verandah or in the poolside jacuzzi.
As Harare is only 15 minutes away, transport to and from the city
can be arranged making shopping, sight-seeing and exploring easy.
There are six golf courses nearby - the staff at Imba Matombo
would be happy to book tee-times for any guests who wish to play,
and to arrange transport to and from the golf course.
Imba Matombo's location
gives a convenient place for business travellers to reside during
a busy schedule, or to hold business meetings and greet international
visitors. Imba Matombo is ideally suited for business visitors
- we have a luxury minibus available to drop off and collect guests
from the city centre with a relaxing, friendly atmosphere to welcome
them back at the end of a long day! For tourists, a couple of
days at the beginning and end of their safari to "acclimatize"
are best spent at Imba Matombo, relaxing by the glorious 25m swimming
pool, playing tennis, or a round of golf at one of six excellent
golf courses within 30 minutes drive of the lodge. A driver is
available for tours to the best craft markets, sculpture gardens,
a world-renowned Silversmith, and antique railway-sleeper furniture
gallery.
